75% of Americans Think Don't Ask Don't Tell Should Be Repealed, But Republicans Won't Vote for Repeal

     It was a big day for Don't Ask, Don't Tell.  The Murphy Amendment was added to the defense authorization bill.  This amendment would set in motion the repeal of DADT, to be completely overturned in December.

     Here are a few of the highlights from Rachel Maddow's report, embedded below:

• 75% of the American public thinks DADT should be overturned.  Finally, a majority agrees on something!
• The Republicans in Congress are threatening to vote against not only the repeal of DADT but the entire defense authorization bill, if the Murphy Amendment is included.  They really want to impress that 25%.
• DADT has cost the American tax payers $1.3 billion since the policy began.
• Nearly 14,000 servicemen and women have been discharged under the policy.
• The vote is supposed to be on Thursday of this week.
